Independence Day Activities

The July 4th weekend is filled with activities to celebrate our country.

From Sea to Shining Sea: July 3, 7:30pm. Music Director Michael Butterman and the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra present a variety of patriotic classics. $10-$28 adult, $1 age 12 and under. Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada. 720-898-7200. www.arvadacenter.org.

Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration: 10am-4pm. Bring the family for visits from Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Uncle Sam. Hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence and watch performances by the Denver Concert Band and other area musicians. Watch the 1st Colorado Volunteer Infantry drill and listen to stories of mountain men and Native Americans. Enjoy traditional music and games, children’s crafts and horse-drawn wagon rides. Tour Denver’s oldest standing structure, the Four Mile House museum, and enjoy refreshments. $7 adult, $4 students and seniors, free age 5 and under. $2 for horse-drawn rides (adult), $1 under age 12. 4th of July Celebration at Evergreen Lake: 11:30am. Celebrate with the Denver Brass along with Celtic Colorado Pipes and Drums and the Rocky Mountain Highland Dancers. Evergreen Lake, Upper Bear Creek Rd. and Evergreen Pkwy. 303-679-6869.

Red, White and Boom: 3-10pm. Festival on July 4 including roaming performers, an apple pie bakeoff, trick bike demo, wet bouncy slide, Disney street dancers, three live bands and more, followed by fireworks. Metzler Ranch Community Park, 4175 Trail Boss Rd., Castle Rock. www.crgov.com.



Aspen’s Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration: 12pm. Festivities include a parade (starting at 12pm), U.S. Air Force jet fly-by, concerts, a kid's bicycle rodeo and fireworks over Aspen Mountain. Produced by the Aspen Chamber Resort Association. Downtown Aspen. 970-925-1940. www.aspenchamber.org.

4th of July Crafts: 10am-2pm. Come in and create Independence Day crafts while supplies last. WOW! Museum. 303-604-2424. www.wowmuseum.com.

4th of July Open House: 5-8pm. Tour the Aurora History Museum for free while waiting for the fireworks to begin.
